DPS trooper seizes almost $43,000 in cash near Slaton

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) conducted a traffic stop yesterday on US-84, yielding almost $43,000 in cash, a handgun and a small amount of marijuana.

At approximately 5 p.m., a DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 1991 Mercedes Benz traveling westbound on US-84, for a traffic violation, near Slaton in Lubbock County.

The driver was of the Mercedes was identified as Larry Morgan, 55, of Converse, Texas. During the traffic stop, the trooper discovered almost $43,000 in cash, a handgun and a small amount of marijuana inside the glove compartment.

Morgan was placed under arrest for money laundering, possession of marijuana and unlawfully carrying a weapon. He was booked into the Lubbock County jail.
