Lubbock Christian got back on the winning track after their 19-win streak ended on Monday versus BYU-Hawai'i by defeating Hawaii Pacific in two games on Tuesday both by scores of 5-3 at Howard A. Okita Field.
The Lady Chaps (28-5, 9-3 Heartland) took advantage of six errors committed by the Sea Warriors (11-15, 11-11 PacWest) on the day, with the first helping Mallory Koschany reach first in game one in the top of the third. A double by Ashton Bell to right center and a single by Megan Sullivan to left field scored Koschany and Bell for a 2-0 Lady Chap lead.
Diana De La Paz belted a triple to right center in the next frame and came around the bases on a single by Rebecca Billings, but HPU was able to score two runs in the bottom of the inning after an LCU fielding error and a homerun by Chandell Dacosin to close the Lady Chap lead to 3-2.
Billings collected another hit in the sixth with a double to left center, and she was able to score on a Kirstie Cochran triple to left field for a 5-2 LCU lead. HPU's Sharae Esprecion contributed a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh to score a Sea Warrior run, but LCU held on for the 5-3 win.
In game two with runners on first in second in the top of the first, a single up the middle by Jessica Loiacano scored Koschany, and Morgan Colburn doubled to center field to bring Loiacano around for a 2-0 LCU lead.
After the Sea Warriors put a run on the board in the bottom half of the first, HPU took a 3-2 lead in the third on a double to left center by Dacosin. That lead lasted until the fifth inning when Loiacano, Katera Eltsosie and Colburn each recorded an RBI to put the Lady Chaps up 5-3, which would end up to be the final.
The Lady Chaps will take a day off before returning to the field to take on Chaminade in a doubleheader beginning at 9:30 p.m. CST on Thursday.
