LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A Lubbock woman is behind bars this afternoon after police say she tried to start a fire inside a home in Central Lubbock.

40-year-old Ruby Gonzalez is now charged with arson.

The fire broke out around 7 a.m. Friday morning at a home near Avenue L and 29th Street near Bean Elementary School.

Police believe the fire started on or near the couch, but they have not said exactly how it started. They say Gonzalez was seen leaving the home with her daughter, carrying packed bags moments before the fire started.

Her bond is set at more than $50,000 dollars.
