It happened last Wednesday night and was all caught on video tape by a police car camera. 26-year-old Paul Honesto would not stop when police tried to pull him over. After the chase by car, Honesto was on foot. He tried to take his own life when he saw he was outnumbered by police.
Honesto led police on a chase that ended up on the 66th Street bridge over Interstate 27. Honesto jumped off the bridge but police caught him in midair. If that didn't happen, the outcome could have been deadly, and it was all caught on tape. You can see what appears to be Honesto's legs in the air as he tries to jump. Police rush over to rescue the man. Finally, police manage to pull him up for the arrest.
According to reports, police tased Honesto three times in order to gain control of him. Police booked Honesto at the police department and charged him with evading arrest and driving with a suspended driver license. At the end of it all and when there was room to breathe, Honesto said something that doesn't happen very often. He told police he was sorry and thanked them for saving his life.
By the way, no one was hurt during that pursuit.
