Cruising Through Life

"Cruising" through life may be appealing to some seniors who are disenchanted with the thought of living in a nursing home. After analyzing the sky-rocketing cost of senior care in nursing homes, researchers at Northwestern University say "yes" it would cost a little more, but it would also provide more fun to seniors if they wanted to spend their later years on a cruise ship instead.

Geriatricians found the net cost of living on a cruise ship for 20 years was just $2,000 more than living in a typical assisted living facility, and the cruise line, like the nursing home, provides all meals prepared, housekeeping, laundry services, and a nurse and physician on board.
