LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A Lubbock Grand Jury indicted 32-year-old Juan Gilberto Mora on Tuesday, April 22.

Mora is accused of stabbing 28-year-old Elizabeth Garcia on Sunday, Apr. 6, at the Toledo Court Apartments in the 300 block of Toledo Avenue.

Police say they found the Garcia in her apartment with multiple stab wounds to her torso and head. She was taken to UMC with life-threatening injuries and is currently in critical condition.

A witness tells us that she ran into Garcia's apartment Sunday night after she heard screams.

She says could hear people near the victim's unit telling them the woman had a screwdriver in her head. The witness heard a woman yelling from inside the apartment and ran inside to help. She saw the victim's children on the couch, crying.

In the 911 call, the caller said she thought Garcia was dead.

"She's got something stuck in her head and she's bleeding," the caller said.

Mora fled the scene before police arrived. K-9 units and the DPS helicopter were called out to assist in the search.

Garcia remains in critical condition as of April 22.
