Former Red Raider Quarterback Graham Harrell was in Midland on Monday, interviewing for Midland Lee's Offensive Coordinator opening.
Midland Lee Coach James Morton, a former Monterey Coach, talked to some of his friends and invited Harrell to come discuss the job.
"I felt like he was a guy worthy of an interview. He has a lot of knowledge, being a coaches' son."
Harrell interviewed last Wednesday at Lubbock Roosevelt for their Offensive Coordinator job. Roosevelt Coach John Contrucci made it clear that he wants Harrell to come to Roosevelt.
But Coach Morton came away impressed at future 6A Lee.
"It's about interviewing him as a person first and finding out if he's a good fit for us as a staff and for our kids and what kind of role model he's gonna be. I got a great feel from that standpoint," Lee said.
Harrell was unavailable for comment, but Coach Morton says this pigskin process will move to next level.
"No formal offer has been initiated on our end. It's a step by step process. We have to visit with our principal, get our administrative team on board and find out where we go from here to the next step."
Harrell, who won a Super Bowl Ring with Green Bay, last was with the New York Jets in the 2013 Preseason.
