Drugs, body armor, gun in vehicle in Payson casino parking lot

PAYSON, AZ (CBS5) -

Gila County sheriff's deputies arrested six people after finding a vehicle full of drugs in the parking lot of a Payson casino.

Tonto Apache Tribal police reported a suspicious vehicle in the lot of the Mazatzal Casino about 9 a.m. Friday, and a K-9 unit assigned to Gila County Drug, Gang and Violent Crimes Task Force checked out the vehicle.

Some of the suspects were in the vehicle, while others were in the casino, according to a Gila County Sheriff's Office news release.

After the dog alerted deputies to the presence of drugs, deputies seized about 37 grams of marijuana, 3 grams of heroin, 2.7 grams of methamphetamine, 20 Oxycodone pills, 10 morphine pills, a .38-caliber revolver, two sets of body armor and drug paraphernalia, according to the release.

Deputies said the drugs were packaged for sale.

Arrested were:

  • Donald Sweatt II, charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a narcotic drug, possession of a prescription drug of another, possession of drug paraphernalia, and misconduct involving body armor in a drug offense.
  • Nathan Perez, charged with possession of a narcotic drug for sale, possession of a narcotic drug, possession of a dangerous drug, possession of a prescription drug of another, misconduct involving weapons in a drug offense, misconduct involving weapons prohibited possessor, and misconduct involving body armor in a drug offense.
  • Billie Perez, charged with possession of a narcotic drug for sale, possession of a narcotic drug, possession of a dangerous drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a prescription drug of another.
  • Thomas Tucker, charged with possession of a narcotic drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a dangerous drug, possession of a prescription drug of another, and misconduct involving body armor in a drug offense.
  • Ashley Massamillo, charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, and a warrant failure to comply from the Payson Justice Court.
  • Stanley River, charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
