Spade man killed in Wednesday morning aircraft crash

LITTLEFIELD, TX (KCBD) -

52-year-old Bryne Long of Spade, Texas has been killed in an aircraft crash that happened just after 9 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Littlefield Municipal Airport.

DPS originally reported this as a glider crash but the FAA says the aircraft is known in the industry as a "trike," specificially an Aerotrike Safari. It's "a large hanglider with an engine and cockpit hanging beneath the wing."

The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA are conducting an investigation.
