A woman and baby had a close call while driving in north Lubbock on Sunday afternoon.
The driver was headed south on I-27 near the airport, just before 3:45 on Sunday afternoon.
She told police that the baby in her backseat was crying because it couldn't get a blanket off its head, so she tried to help.
She then lost control of the SUV, drove into a ditch, came back up on the access road, hit a pole, then ran over a large piece of wood and dragged it for about 30 feet before coming to a stop in a parking lot.
The driver and baby were not hurt.
