Two people were arrested after leading DPS and Lubbock Police on a high speed chase.

63-year-old Marcello Acuna and 32-year-old Tammy Burks Champagne remain behind bars on Sunday.

Authorities said it started in west Lubbock County just before 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. DPS attempted to stop the pair for a traffic violation, but the driver took off.

Troopers said they spotted someone in the vehicle throwing suspected narcotics out of the window near the Reese Technology Center.

LPD joined the pursuit, and eventually the vehicle stopped at 13th St. and Slide.

Acuna is being charged with evading arrest. Champagne is being charged with possession of a controlled substance, tampering with evidence and evading.
