LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The Lubbock Sheriff's Office has released the mug shots of five people who were arrested in Southwest Lubbock on Thursday, Apr. 17, for 'peddling' without a proper license.

Three women and two men were taken into custody after an extensive police search.

A viewer described her encounter with the group on KCBD's Facebook page:

The homeowner said she opened the door to a younger woman who claimed she was a Kirby Vacuum sales person. The girl, who appeared to be in her late teens, offered her what she called a ‘gift' of an open Kleenex box.

Two men who appeared to be in their thirties and another woman were watching from a blue minivan with Colorado plates.

The homeowner told the young woman she didn't have carpet in her home and wasn't interested, but the girl ran back to the van and came back with a Kirby carpet cleaner.

Again, the homeowner insisted that she wasn't interested. That's when she says the young woman got aggressive and tried to push her way through the door.

The homeowner stood between the young girl and the home and told her she needed to leave. The girl responded angrily that she needed the Kleenex back, grabbed them from her hand and ran back to the van.

A similar account was reported to KCBD by a woman who says three of the arrests were made at her home.

Police arrested Darya Ocechkina, 18; Kristen Carlson, 22; Benjamin Jones, 34; Miranda Williams, 18; and Christian McVay, 22.

All five have been released on bond.

The Kirby company has confirmed that they do not send representatives door to door in Lubbock and these people are not affiliated with them.
