Thanks to the generosity of the South Plains community, Lubbock's United Way is getting closer to its goal.
Friday the agency announced it is 95% of the way toward the 2004 goal of $4.2 million dollars.
They still expect to reach their goal, because there are still several outstanding pledges. "We feel good about what the community has done and as always we want to say thank you to so many of the generous contributors who have come forward, no matter the size of the gift, everyone's given from the heart," said Glenn Cochran, United Way President.
United Way continues to take donations. The money supports 23 partner agencies on the South Plains.
