Layoffs Expected at SBC Communications

The pink slips will soon go around SBC Communications. The San Antonio-based phone company says it expects to cut 10,000 or more jobs. It will happen by the end of next year through a combination of layoffs and attrition. That's 6% of its work force.

No word yet on whether jobs here in Lubbock will be effected.
