A thousand people participated in the Color Dash on Saturday morning, an annual event benefiting the CASA of the South Plains.
CASA tells us every year about 850 children enter America's foster care system because they cannot live safely at home.
CASA is a nonprofit organization that recruits, trains and supports volunteers to advocate in the best interest of abused and neglected children in foster care.
They tell us money raised at Saturday's Five K will stay right here helping local children.
While this is the organization's 9th annual Five K, they tell us this is the first time they have partnered with the Color Dash.
CASA Special Events and Marketing Coordinator Melissa Pierce said, "The reason we partner with them is because they give fifty percent back to the charity they partner with. We always have new volunteer training, like every other month and we are in desperate need of volunteers."
This is an annual event, so if you missed it on Saturday, they have a Color Splash event coming up on Sept. 19.
