Lubbock business owners featured at MTV Movie Awards

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Lola Blue handbags are one of a kind.

They're designed right here in Lubbock but have been introduced to a much bigger market.

Business partners Jessica Williams and Jackie Madsen, founders of Lola Blue, were approached by the director of the MTV Movie Awards who had been introduced to their bags by word of mouth.

Williams and Madsen were asked to be a part of the Movie Awards in April, where their bags were featured in the famous MTV Swag Bags.

Williams joked that, at first, she didn't think the offer was real.

"They had sent an e-mail asking if we wanted to take part in their gifting sweeps for the MTV movie awards. I forwarded it to (Jackie's) husband thinking it was spam mail, but, after talking to the lady from the PR company, who had seen our bags, we got them approved and that's how we got in there," said Williams.

Each bag that was given out had a unique, one-of-a-kind design.

"It opened up a lot of different avenues for us to call different stores that these stars recommended, so that was really cool," Madsen said.

Madsen says stars and writers loved the bags so much that they even suggested the two expand to have their merchandise in bigger markets across the country.

"They were telling us about stores that were their favorites that they thought these bags needed to be in, whether it be in Nashville or L.A. or wherever they lived," said Madsen.
