It is known as the world's largest obstacle racing series. We are talking about the Warrior Dash. The fun begins Saturday in Hinds County.
The Warrior Dash is expecting more than 4,000 people, and there are new obstacles at a new location.
Warrior Dash is being set up on the grounds of Providence Hill Farm. It's a 5k race on steroids that attracts runners who like to test their ability.
"A couple of giant walls, we've got trenches they will go through," said Warrior Dash Event Director Julie Krause. "There is definitely a variety. Some planks they will have to walk down."
The Warrior Dash was held in Jackson last year.
"For those unfamiliar, Warrior Dash is a 5K obstacle race series," said Krause. "We've got 12 amazing obstacles throughout a beautiful, hilly, somewhat challenging course."
People can register on site Saturday morning to help benefit a great cause.
"We do partner with St. Jude Children's Hospital, so what we offer is for you to sign up as a St. Jude Warrior," said Krause. "So, they are able to get a fundraising page and have their friends and family donate to the cause and through that we have helped raise over 8.5 million dollars for the children's hospital.
The Warrior Dash begins Saturday morning at 8:30. The price for registration is $90.
"We really try and make it a great experience and one that anyone can do," added Krause. "So, the casual runner as well as the experienced runner are welcome. It's definitely challenging enough, but you can take it at your own pace. And then after you run we have a great festival. We have a band lined up, a DJ, we have a lot of great food and everyone just has a great time."
If participate in tomorrow's race, we want to see your pictures. You can upload them to the WLBT Facebook page.
