High winds expected across South Plains

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Wind and more wind for this weekend as speeds could top the 60 MPH mark from New Mexico into West Texas.

The winds are associated with a strong system located in the Central Plains. Winds on Saturday will average 30-40 MPH with Sunday wind speeds at 45-55 MPH with higher gusts.

Temps will soar to 90 degrees or higher tomorrow then fall to the mid 70s on Sunday. Sunday will have the highest wind speeds for the area.

It will remain windy through Monday into Tuesday. Lows will fall to near the 40-degree mark by Monday morning and into the 30s on Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

There is a slight chance of some isolated storms on Saturday night into Sunday morning for areas generally east of Lubbock.
