Funeral service, viewing dates announced for Roy Grimes

Roy T. Grimes, longtime Lubbock ISD teacher, principal and member of the Board of Trustees, passed away late Sunday afternoon after a lengthy illness. He was 87.

His tenure with Lubbock ISD spanned more than 50 years, serving in a variety of roles.

Grimes began his education career as a teacher in LISD, and he served as an administrator at J. T. Hutchinson Middle School for more than 30 years. He left the LISD Board of Trustees in 2006, after 18 years as an at-large member.

The funeral service will be Friday, May 2, 1:30 p.m. at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

There will be a viewing on Thursday, May 1 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Lakeridge Chapel.
