Lubbock High School's Science Bowl team will return Monday night after competing in the National Science Bowl in Washington D.C.
The team left on Thursday to attend the bowl and began competing the next day.
Sunday was their final competition, but they did not advance to the final 16 teams.
The team, coached by Sue Diggs, consisted of Smriti Verma, Nikhil Dihenia, Sabiha Armin, David Chen and Farah Mechref.
Although the team did not place in the competition, they said some of the members have tried to qualify for the bowl for four years.
The competition did not only benefit her students, but will help Diggs further develop her curriculum.
"So when we go back as educators, we know the level we have to teach in order to make our students competitive in the real world," Diggs said, "and so to me, that's what this is all about."
The team qualified for the bowl this past February, when they won first place at the regional competition West Texas A&M University.
