The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce announced its support for the $55 million Lubbock-Cooper ISD bond election on Monday.
Projects in the bond issue include additional classrooms, renovations and maintenance and technology upgrades.
Lubbock-Cooper ISD Superintendent Pat Henderson says this bond is much needed:
"This is my fourth bond issue as superintendent. I've been superintendent for 19 years and our community has always supported our bond issues for additional facilities. The growth of our district is well documented. We've grown by over 1,500 students in the last five years - almost 500 students at the high school alone, with two middle schools feeding the high school. We're operating out of 18 portable buildings at the high school, so the crunch is there."
The bond election is scheduled for Saturday, May 10.
