There's no way around it, spending $750,000 to restore an old house sitting in a flood zone just makes no sense.
But that's exactly what's been approved by Lubbock City Council. This house was designated as a historical landmark back in the 80s and is set to be transformed into...wait for it...a party house for the public.
How that got the OK from council is beyond me.
Other than its 80-year age, I've not heard one fact of significant history about this house.
Don't throw almost a million dollars of tax money to renovate it for parties. That money could be better spent on public safety issues.
I guarantee you, if the public were voting on it, this would never pass.
City council just flat out blew this one.
