TxDOT to begin maintenance projects along I-27

Provided by the Texas Department of Transportation

Motorists traveling on I-27, in Lubbock County, over the next few months can expect traffic to be reduced to one-lane and other main lane closures on several bridges as the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) begins work on a $150,000 routine maintenance project.

"The lane closures will give work crews the space needed to safely make repairs to bridge joints and approach slabs on various bridge structures along I-27 through Lubbock County," said Edward Sewell, P.E., project manager.

Work is scheduled to begin Friday, May 2.

"Motorists can anticipate various I-27 lane closures—both daytime and overnight closures—throughout the summer months." Sewell said.

Motorists should drive with caution through the work zone, be on the lookout for workers and avoid distractions for their own safety and the safety of the workers, Sewell added.

Mickey Michaels, of Levelland, is the project contractor. Work on the bridges is scheduled to be completed in August 2014.
