LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Saturday is Free Comic Book Day, a chance pick up something for the kids or introduce new fans to the hobby.

Publishers here in the Hub City and across the country will be giving away free comic books on Saturday.

Robert Mora, owner of Star Comics, told us how the idea got started.

"It was an idea from a comic book retailer in California by the name of Joe Fields. He just came up with an idea, just put it out there in the ether, let's give away free comics - that would be a way to get people interested in comic books," Mora said.

Comics fans of all ages have been enjoying free comic book day for 13 years.
