Texas Tech has invited former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to speak at one of the university's commencement ceremonies.
This follows Saturday's announcement that Rice dropped out of the ceremony at Rutgers University.
Her decision followed months of protests by students and faculty there over Rice's involvement in the Iraq War and other Bush administration policies.
Now, in a letter sent Monday by Chancellor Kent Hance, Rice has been invited to speak during this year's August or December ceremonies, or at next year's graduation in May.
In his letter, Hance says, "As a distinguished diplomat and great leader, you would be an outstanding individual to speak at one of our upcoming graduation ceremonies."
