Pay It Forward started out near Nashville and 26th Street in Central Lubbock this week. We set up with our Pay It Forward sign seeking this week's playmaker.
The first person to spot our sign was Kathy O'Guinn. Kathy was just passing by when she saw us standing on the corner. She pulled into the parking lot right away.
Kathy told us she had seen Pay It Forward before. She decided to help Misty Davis. Kathy really felt that Misty and her family could use $300.
"Misty is a young mother and her daughter is ill. She just had a surgical procedure," Kathy said.
Kathy added that she had just visited Misty before she saw us on the side of the road. She knew that the medical procedure would be costly and felt led to help her out.
We made the short drive to the hospital and called Misty's mother to let her know that we were looking for her. We were able to get Misty to meet us at the front door.
Kathy surprised her and told her that she wanted to Pay It Forward. She counted out $300 to Misty.
Misty was very thankful. She told us that she would spend the money on paying medical bills for her daughter.
Misty gave Kathy a big hug and said, "Thank you very much."
Be looking for our Pay It Forward sign soon. You may become our next playmaker!
