An outbreak of mumps has parents across Illinois concerned. Cases are on the rise for an illness that is normally forgotten after routine vaccinations.
But, the Illinois department of public health, reports that there have already been 82 cases of the mumps by the end of April...compared to 26 cases in all of last year and 32 the year before.
Symptoms include a few days of a fever, headache, muscle aches and tiredness, followed by swollen glands. In rare cases, it can lead to meningitis.
Anyone experiencing those symptoms is advised to get to a doctor for a diagnosis.
