Texas Tech softball left out of NCAA Tournament

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The NCAA Softball Tournament field of 64 was revealed Sunday night and the Red Raiders were surprisingly left on the outside looking in.

The Big 12 had four teams selected to the tournament, and Tech finished 4th in conference, but were snubbed while 5th place Kansas was invited.

Even worse, the Red Raiders swept the Jayhawks in Lawrence April 17 through 19.

Expectations around the Tech softball program were that had done enough to be selected.

Instead, they'll miss the tournament for the second straight year.

Texas Tech's season comes to a bitter end at 35-19 overall, 8-10 in Big 12 play.
