Bush Nominates Texan For U.S. Attorney General

A man with ties to Texas is in line to become the next Attorney General of the United States.

President Bush nominated Alberto Gonzales for the position on Wednesday. Gonzales is currently the Chief White House Counsel and also served as Texas Secretary of State and a Justice on the State Supreme Court.

If confirmed by the Senate, the 49-year-old San Antonio native would be the first Hispanic to hold the attorney general's job.
