LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Former Red Raider football Coach Mike Leach was back in Lubbock Tuesday night, signing copies of his new book, Geronimo.

Known as the Pirate here as he led Texas Tech football for 10 seasons, Leach has been interested in Indians since he was a kid.

"My mom took me to the library and I said where's the Indian section," Leach said. "She told me I could get one book and I'll read it to you, so I got the biggest Geronimo book I could find. That's where all that started."

Leach, currently the football coach at Washington State, is already a best-selling author for his previous book, Swing your Sword. Now he writes of the Leadership Strategies of an American Warrior.

"I think everybody should get a copy of Geronimo because regardless of what you're interested in, everybody has worked towards accomplishing things. His path is fascinating and it helps you enrich your own," Leach said.

There were two long lines at Barnes & Noble at the South Plains Mall to see the winningest football coach in Texas Tech history and get copies of his latest book signed.

Leach says he may no longer be the teacher of Texas Tech football, but he's thrilled that former student Kliff Kingsbury is.

"I'm excited. Most of Tech's staff played for me so I wish them the best. I think Tech is in great hands and I'm excited about their future. Kliff is consumed by football and I think he does a tremendous job."

You can buy Leach's book, Geronimo, at bookstores everywhere.
