LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A day after a horrific accident between a car and an 18-wheeler on South First Street claimed the lives of two Wisconsin women, the Lufkin Police Department released their names.

According to a press release that was released Wednesday, Katrina Holloway, 19, and her mother Susan Holloway, 52, both of Glendale, Wisconsin, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident Tuesday morning.

The accident occurred at approximately 11 a.m. Tuesday. According to the press release, the Lufkin Police Department's Traffic Division's investigation revealed that Jose Hernandez, 49, of Houston, was driving north on South First Street (U.S. 59) in a 2009 Freightliner with a van-type trailer when he stopped for a red light.

Katrina Holloway was also traveling north in a 1997 Volvo. Susan Holloway was in the front passenger seat. The press release stated that Katrina Holloway failed to stop for the red light, and as a result, her car slammed into the back of Hernandez' trailer.

The car was pinned more than halfway under the trailer, and emergency personnel had to bring in a crane to lift the trailer off the Volvo.

The Volvo was filled with luggage and books, and a map was open on the front passenger seat.

Sgt. Mike Shurley of the Lufkin Police Department said the two women died instantly in the wreck.

Sarah and Randy Miller, of Pennsylvania, were driving into town to visit family when they saw the horrifying accident.

"It was the scariest thing I've ever seen in my life," Sarah Miller said.

Sarah Miller said they just saw a flash of brake lights right before the Volvo struck the back end of the trailer.
