A Trinity woman serving a probation sentence for abusing her mother for falling asleep in January was arrested for the second time this year on Wednesday after authorities say she beat her for staying awake.
According to the arrest report, a deputy was called for a welfare check around 8 p.m. Tuesday, in the Sebastopol area. When he arrived, he reported the front door was open and he saw a 68-year-old woman in the kitchen cooking and reported she had several visible bruises on her face and had difficulty walking.
The deputy said the woman said her daughter abused her on Monday. While the woman was talking to the deputy, the deputy reported the daughter, Leah Harlow, 38, walked into the room but did not see the deputy and began yelling at her mother because the house was smoking from the mother cooking bacon.
The deputy said he let Harlow know she was there and took the mother to the hospital.
The deputy arrested Harlow on Wednesday. Harlow was arrested for a similar crime in January, when the mother said Harlow attacked her while she was asleep. Harlow accepted a five-year probation sentence on the charge in February.
The mother said Harlow attacked her this time because she had not gone to bed, according to the report.
