One killed in crash near Truman Sports Complex

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A crash between a semi and a second vehicle killed one person near Truman Sports Complex.

The crash happened about 9 p.m. Wednesday in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 near Blue Ridge Cutoff.

The person killed is 32-year-old Tabitha Lappin.

The Kansas City Police Department said their investigation revealed that Lappin was west on I-70 approaching Pittman Road when she noticed that traffic was stopped in front of her for unknown reasons. Lappin made an abrupt lane change and drove into the path of a tractor-trailer.

The driver of the semi was not injured, but Lappin was pronounced dead at the scene.
