Alyssa Hughes signs with Southern Nazarene University

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Cooper Lady Pirate senior, Alyssa Hughes, signed a letter of intent to play softball at Southern Nazarene University Thursday morning.

Surrounded by family, friends, coaches, and teammates, Hughes expressed her excitement of playing at the next level.

"It's just really exciting," Hughes said, "To think I'll be going somewhere I've never been before and playing is just really crazy and real exciting."

Hughes was a four year player for the Cooper softball program but says she didn't expect to play college ball until she started being recruited during her senior year.
