On Friday, the Texas Tech Board of Regents is expected to discuss potential candidates to replace outgoing Chancellor Kent Hance.
They postponed talking about them on Thursday.
Regents interviewed candidates outside of Lubbock on Wednesday. Board Chairman Mickey Long says it was not posted as a public meeting because the interviews were conducted so there was never a quorum.
He said interviews were done that way to protect the confidentiality of the candidates.
It's not known if the board will announce a finalist on Friday.
The regents did approve changing the name of United Spirit Arena to United Supermarkets Arena.
