Councilman Hernandez hears public input about zoning proposal

Posted: Updated:

District One Lubbock City Councilman Victor Hernandez educated residents and received the public's input on Saturday about a proposal he is taking to the city's planning and zoning commission.

Hernandez said he hopes to rezone the corridor along North University from the Marsha Sharp Freeway to the Clovis Highway.

The area would be rezoned from industrial to commercial, and the depth of the commercial zone would be increased.

If you missed Saturday's meeting, Councilman Hernandez said there will be other opportunities to have your voice heard.

"Today is the first," he said, "then of course it will go before planning and zoning, and people will have that opportunity. And then there will be two readings at the council level, so they will have those two additional opportunities."
