Texas Tech loses Big 12 Championship Opener

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (KCBD) -

4th-seeded Texas Tech ran into a hot hitting 5th-seeded Texas losing their Big 12 Championship Opener in Oklahoma City 8-3.

The game started an hour and 15 minutes late with the first pitch at 8:45 p.m. The 19th-ranked Longhorns jumped out early on the 21st-ranked Red Raiders plating 5 runs in the 2nd and they never looked back as the game finished 11:34 p.m.

That's means it will be a quick turnaround for Tech (40-17) as they move into the Loser's Bracket and will play Oklahoma 12:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

It'll be an elimination game for the Red Raiders, who are looking for wins to improve hopes of hosting an NCAA regional for the first time since 1999.
