Jason Dear steps down as Frenship boys basketball coach

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

After 13 seasons, Frenship Boys Basketball Coach, Jason Dear, has resigned.

Dear won almost 300 games and leaves as the Tigers' winningest boys basketball Coach.

"I'm gonna go work for Oxy Oil and Gas out there in Levelland. Just an opportunity, a little bit more money and more time at home, more time with the family," said Dear.

Dear led the Tigers to the playoffs all 13 seasons he coached. Frenship also won the District Title the Last 3 seasons.

"It's been great, so much time getting to know all these kids and being around them, getting to know their families, great to build those relationships. All the well wishes I got today from past players, it's just been great. That's what it was about, just building relationships with these kids," said Dear.

Frenship moves to Class 6A next season.
