Adrian Tino Guerrero, 28, of Slaton, Texas, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Sam R. Cummings to188 months in federal prison, to be followed by a 20-year term of supervised release. Guerrero pleaded guilty in February 2014 to one count of receipt of child pornography and has been in custody since his arrest in November 2013 on a related charge. U.S. Attorney Sarah R. Saldaña of the Northern District of Texas made the announcement today.

According to documents filed in the case, Guerrero used his computer to access various forms of pornography on the Internet, including numerous images and videos of child pornography. He admitted that in November 2013, while searching the Internet for child pornography, he knowingly downloaded a video of a female child engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative, which was launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice, to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by U.S. Attorney's Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals, who sexually exploit children, and identify and rescue victims.
