Police working to identify remains found in NW Lubbock

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Lubbock police reported that they have found what may be human remains on a road at 5800 North Frankford on Thursday afternoon.

Lubbock Police Sergeant Jason Lewis said that the remains were found around 2:45 p.m., off of Frankford Ave., near Highway 84.

A DPS helicopter and Crosby County K-9 tracking dogs were searching the area when they found the remains.

The medical examiner arrived on the scene at 4 p.m., and Lewis brought two mules to assist in the investigation.

Lewis said he has no idea how long investigators will be on the scene.

"As long as it takes to collect all the evidence they can find and get the remains identified," Lewis said.

Investigators said they should know the identity of the remains by Friday.
