Red Raiders win NCAA Opener

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Playing in their first NCAA Regional since 2004, the 23rd ranked Red Raiders won their Miami Regional Opener in dramatic fashion.

Eric Gutierrez hit a walk off double in the bottom of the 9th to give Texas Tech a 3-2 win over Columbia on Friday afternoon.

Adam Kirsch hit a two run homer to give Tech a 2-1 lead, but the Lions tied it up and it stayed 2-2 until Gutierrez's heroics.

Tech (41-18) moves into the winner's bracket and will meet the Miami/Bethune-Cookman winner on Saturday in Coral Gables, Florida.
