This week's Pay It Forward started out near 43rd and Avenue L just, west of Interstate 27. We set up with our Pay It Forward sign seeking this week's playmaker.
It only took seconds for our playmaker to arrive. They happened to be driving north on Avenue L when they saw our sign.
Johnnie Gutierrez bolted out of the car. She was very excited. She knew how Pay It Forward worked and she knew exactly who she wanted to help out.
Johnnie picked Frances Villasana as this week's recipient of Pay It Forward.
Johnnie explained to us that Frances had a stroke in recent months. She told us that Frances was having a hard time.
After the stroke, Frances had another setback. Johnnie added, "She fell and broke her hip in late April or early May."
The fall was creating significant pain for Frances. Her pain medication was very expensive and Johnnie wanted to use the money to assist Frances with her medical issues.
We drove to Frances's house. We knocked on the door. After she invited us in, we met Frances Villasana.
Frances was very sweet. She was emotional when we arrived. Johnnie counted out $300.
Frances was deeply moved and broke down in tears.
Frances told us that she would use the money for pain medication. She only had three pills left the day we arrived.
Frances told us, "God Bless all of you. I'm so grateful."
Be looking for our Pay It Forward sign soon. You may become our next playmaker.
