National College Baseball Hall of Fame breaking ground in June

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

June is expected to be a big month for college baseball in Lubbock.

Not only is Tech expected to host a super-regional, leaders are also expected to break ground on the George H.W. Bush National College Baseball Hall of Fame.

It's set to be built on the north side of the Civic Center.

The city donated the land in 2010.

According to the organization's web site, they're nearing the end of the design development phase, but changes are still possible.

Right now, the plan is that the building will be built around a baseball field, with the "first base side" housing an event space and the "third base side" housing the actual hall of fame.

A ground breaking event is scheduled for June 28, coinciding with the Hall of Fame's annual Night of Champions.
