Normal tickets for the 2014 NCAA Lubbock Super Regional are officially sold out, but tickets for students will be available Wednesday morning at 7:30 a.m.

An overwhelming response from the Texas Tech fan base secured all available seats for the upcoming super regional against the College of Charleston in less than an hour.

"The energy here is unreal, she can tell you. We've been here from the start. The energy is back in Lubbock and it's a lot of fun, a lot of excitement," said Jared Alderson as he looked at his sister, Shonna Cannaday.

This brother and sister say they were raised in the stands.

"Baseball, football, basketball, you name it. Since my parents were married, they've had season tickets for almost 35 years now. It's fun it's exciting, it's a once in a lifetime thing," Cannaday.

"So are you making your parents proud by being here and picking up those tickets?" I asked.
"They don't live in Lubbock anymore, so if we were not here in line we would probably be disowned," Cannaday.

The love of Texas Tech baseball runs in their blood.

"I just want to see Dan Law sold out. First time being in the supers, Tim Tadlock has done an awesome job, so I just want to see it sold out, a lot of red and black cheering this team on," Alderson said.

Kyle McCalla is one of the many Texas Tech fans who walked away empty handed.

"Yeah, I'm disappointed because I've been going to Texas Tech baseball games for four years now and I've probably been to over 100 games and I won't be able to see this one," McCalla said.

Tickets for students will be available Wednesday morning at 7:30 a.m. They can be picked up at the athletics ticket office in the north end of Jones AT&T Stadium.

McCalla is afraid he might miss class if he gets caught in a long line.

"Does motor learning trump getting a baseball ticket?" I asked.

"Yeah, because it's the second time I've taken it," McCalla said.

If you are not a season ticket holder or a student, has a few tickets left online, but they will cost you.

They range in price from $250 to $600.

McCalla said whether he watches the game from the stands or on television, he agrees this is great for Texas Tech and for Lubbock.

"Lubbock is a baseball town for sure and this program has had tremendous support over the years and that's evident in the fact that we sold out in less than an hour," said Blayne Beal, Texas Tech's Associate Athletics Director.

Jordan Dudley, a Texas Tech alumni, and his son are some of the lucky fans who walked away with tickets.

Dudley said he wants his little fan to be a witness to history..

"He's two-years-old. Do you think he will remember this game?" I asked.

"Probably not, but I will and he'll have plenty of pictures," Dudley said as he held his son.

Some believe this is history in the making and a new beginning.

"I think what we are seeing now is just the tipping point of what is going to be the golden age of Texas Tech Athletics," Beal said.

Baseball season ticket holders were able to secure their seats to the super regional until 5 p.m. Tuesday.
