A crew from the local umpire association has received the call to make the calls at games at the State Tournament in Austin.
Larry Davidson, Robbie Crowell, Blake Cate and A.B Morris say they are humbled by the selection.
"To be picked by your peers is such a big honor. The kids have worked all year to get there and really we have, too. We tried to do our best. We've made coaches mad. We've made them happy. It's an honor to go," said Blake Cate.
Larry Davidson added, "It's a great chance to represent our chapter and the West Texas Region. We've all called for a long time.
The four called Sunday's GWTBCA 4A/5A All-Star Game and for Robbie Crowell, this trip to Austin is extra special.
"Every year we do the best we can. This is my 3rd time to be able to go down there. This year, they chose me as a Crew Chief. That's an honor."
Being from this area, the crew will not be involved in Cooper or Idalou's State Tournament games. They received the other Class 3A State Semifinal between Argyle and Sinton.
A.B. Morris knows they are more than qualified, "It'll be my first time there but we've got over 73 or 74 years of experience here, just in the high school level, so I think we can handle anything that comes up down there."
Congrats to this crew for representing West Texas at the State Tournament.
