One person is dead and four injured after an overnight car accident in east Lubbock.
Police say Monica Timmons, 40, was travelling southbound on North Guava when she suffered a medical issue and stopped her car in the intersection of North Guava and Parkway Drive around 11:35 p.m. Thursday.
They say two separate vehicles stopped to assist Timmons when a fourth vehicle, being driven by 20-year-old Hunter Parrott, approached the intersection. Parrott failed to control his speed and collided with one of the vehicles causing it to slide into the other parked vehicles in the intersection.
Police say 19-year-old Jolan Hunter was outside of his vehicle assisting Timmons when he became trapped between two of the vehicles as a result of the collision.
Hunter was transported to UMC where he was pronounced dead.
Four other victims were transported to UMC and Covenant with major and minor injuries.
Early reports of the accident stated that Hunter was a 15-year-old boy.
