Southcrest Christian School helps area youth see the Lone Survivor

LUBBOCK – Thanks to the bold vision of Southcrest Christian School, Marcus Luttrell, the ‘Lone Survivor' of SEAL Team 10's Operation Redwing as portrayed by Mark Wahlberg in the recently released Lone Survivor hit movie will share his story with Lubbock this Saturday, Flag Day, June 14th, at the City Bank Coliseum.

Southcrest stepped it up a notch this week announcing that for every $25 and $50 ticket purchased through Select A Seat by Friday at 5pm, they will donate a ticket to the Lubbock Children's Home, making sure that area youth can be inspired by this American patriot.

With Paul McCartney's concert now delayed, the Lone Survivor event is a great option for area residents looking to do something special this Father's Day weekend.

Guests will be treated to the unbelievable testimony of teamwork, tenacity, survival and grace in the mountains of Afghanistan. Operation Redwing, an intelligence gathering mission, took an unexpected turn when four Navy SEALs encountered several goat herders on the mountain. Faced with the impossible choice of killing the shepherds or compromising their own safety, the SEALs let the herders go. Shortly after, a large Taliban force ambushed Luttrell and his team. The four fought valiantly for hours, throwing themselves off the side of a mountain to seek a better position rather than retreat, despite being heavily outnumbered. Hours later after Luttrell had witnessed all three friends die, he saw the rescue helicopter headed his way carrying 16 special operation forces shot down, killing all on board. His face shredded, nose broken, rotator cuff torn, three vertebrae cracked, body riddled with shrapnel and unable to stand, Luttrell began to crawl for miles through the mountains until he was rescued by local Afghan villagers, who risked their own lives while nurturing him to health and later signaled US Forces of his location.

The patriotic event will also feature special musical guests Josh Wilson and Kenny Maines.

Tables and VIP passes are sold out but individual tickets for the main program remain available and make the perfect Father's Day gift. Get yours this week at any Select a Seat location or online at http://www.selectaseatlubbock.com/to help area kids see Luttrell too.

Proceeds from this event benefit Southcrest Christian School.
