Andrews Oil Rig Explosion Sends Three To Lubbock Burn Unit

Three people are recovering in a Lubbock hospital after suffering severe burns in an oil rig explosion.

Emergency crews were called to an Apache Oil Company rig in Northeast Andrews County around 9 o'clock Tuesday morning. Muddy roads made it difficult for crews to reach the scene. The cause of the explosion is still unknown, but it sparked a fire with smoke visible for miles.
