A Lubbock's man's second attempt to legalize packaged liquor sales has failed.
Roger Settler's petition for election was due in the Lubbock County Elections Office by five Tuesday evening, but a petition was not turned in. Settler needed to collect more than 7,000 valid signatures from voters in Precincts three and four.
Soon a petition may not be needed to call an election. Earlier this month, the Lubbock City Council voted to ask state lawmakers to amend the law and allow an election without a petition.
