City council approves earlier meeting times

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The Lubbock City Council approved some new meeting times Thursday night.

Their regular meetings will now start an hour earlier at 5:15 p.m. Work sessions will start at 1 p.m. and executive sessions will start at 2:30 p.m. These changes take effect immediately.

The council did not take any action on the Omni Office Building. Councilman Victor Hernandez had proposed a resolution calling for the council to deem the building an imminent hazard, so they could remove more of the outside paneling that has been falling off the building, but, Hernandez asked to move that discussion to the council's first meeting in August.

The council says it's an ongoing issue, and they are scheduled to take their case to trial in November.
